Festival ’22 – The Nineteenth Burton Competitive Music Festival

Sunday 6th March 2022

After the very strange year we’ve all experienced it’s great to know that we can hold the 2022 Festival at the Brewhouse once again and return to some normality. We are extremely grateful to all the entrants who participated in our “On line” festival in 2021. This format enabled us to carry on and once again we attracted a high standard of entrants and our adjudicator, Ben Costello was impressed with all entries.

Much of the syllabus for 2022 remains the same as pre-pandemic although we are continuing to offer Solo Piano classes, which we introduced this year to give our pianists an opportunity to shine as well as our talented vocalists. The ensemble classes will return although we are restricting the numbers of participants in each Ensemble to between 3 and 12 to avoid large gatherings and excess numbers of audience members. We are also offering a choice to the entrants in the Jazz class to use a backing track or piano accompanist.

We hope we will attract a similar number of entrants as our pre- pandemic levels, if not more and we encourage you to spread the word on our behalf.

Once again we have been fortunate to retain our wonderful sponsors, without whom, the Festival wouldn’t be what it is. We have also attracted a few new sponsors for the Piano classes and we welcome them and hope they will also continue to support us in years to come.

Our website has been updated and our online entry form, please do let us know your thoughts on the revamp and we will consider any changes suggested so that we always provide the best information and assistance possible.

If you have any questions about anything, please send us a message here on our ‘contact us’ page and one of the team will get back to you.
